Abstract: Farmers professional cooperative union is an important carrier for consolidating poverty alleviation results in underdeveloped areas and effectively connecting with rural revitalization. Evaluating the performance of the cooperative union in underdeveloped areas is very important for promoting the highquality development of the cooperative union and further exerting its leading role. This paper constructs the performance evaluation index system of the association from the perspective of economic performance, development performance, and social performance. Based on the analytic hierarchy process and entropy method, the linear weighted combination method is used to determine the index weights, and the TOPSIS method is used to make an empirical analysis on the performance of 31 samples in underdeveloped regions. The results show that the overall performance of the sample cooperative union is at a lowmiddle level, and the average sample relative closeness is 0.259 2. There are 4 cooperative unions with good and average performance and 27 with less than average performance, showing a trend of polarization. Economic performance is the main factor restricting the performance of the cooperative union, and its average value is 0.234 6. The economic performance itself will be affected by the average annual income of the members of the cooperative union. Based on this, in the future, we should continue to improve the profitability of the cooperative union, establish a close interest linkage mechanism, accelerate the establishment of a demonstration cooperative of the cooperative union, and strengthen the propaganda of the cooperative union.
