Abstract:  Fertilization and pesticide application of sweet potato is a key process in sweet potato planting. The lack of machinery for fertilization and pesticide application of sweet potatoes not only hinders the mechanization of the whole process but also restricts the development of the sweet potato industry. This paper used three different fertilization and pesticide application methods used in the current sweet potato production process to analyze the advantages of layered fertilization and pesticide application methods in sweet potato ridge cores. By combing the development status of sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application machinery at home and abroad and comparing the machines that adopt different ridge fertilization methods, it was concluded that the existing sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application machinery had problems ofoverfertilization, inability to deploy fertilizer in the core and layers, and few specific equipment for fertilizer application. This article systematically analyzed and summarized the current sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application characteristics and machine development trends in China andconcluded the influencing factors that led to the low level of development of sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application. It also pointed out that the focus of promoting the development of sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application machinery was to deepen the integration of agricultural machinery and agronomy, accelerate the research and development of light and simple machinery, and strengthen the promotion of mechanization. This paper can provide a reference for the further development of sweet potato fertilization and pesticide application machinery.
